Wisdom teeth are the molars (back teeth) that come through last and furthest back in your mouth, usually in your late teens or early 20s (apparently we’re smarter then;). This is a normal part of mouth development.
No, not everyone needs to. It depends on the shape and size of your jaw, some people go through their whole life without the need to remove them.
If you’re experiencing deep throbbing pain that often radiates up and down your face, chances are it’s your wisdom teeth. The pain might be lessened at certain times of the day but it’s very unlikely it will go away completely. Best to make an appointment with Team Dental so we can assess the situation and make a plan together.
For some people surgery to remove their wisdom teeth is a pretty straightforward excersize. The complexity is highly individual and you won’t know what you’re in for until you’ve been seen by one of our friendly experienced dentists. Recovery can take anywhere from 3 – 14 days, and it that time most pain can be managed with regular painkillers and gentle salt water rinses.
